Markiplier became GoPro's largest shareholder at 8.5%
GoPro shares rose 33% to $1.39 after the Aug. 20 filing, ahead of the $699 Mission 1 Pro ILS launch on Sept. 2.
Markiplier became GoPro's biggest single shareholder when a Schedule 13G filing Mark Edward Fischbach submitted on Aug. 20 listed 13.5 million Class A shares in his name, about 8.5% of the class.
The filing held as of July 13 and certified the stake as passive. Fischbach signed that the shares were not acquired to change or influence GoPro's control.
GoPro shares had traded below $1 for much of 2026 and hit a record low of $0.57 after weak second-quarter results and an SEC filing that raised substantial doubt about GoPro's ability to continue as a going concern. After the 13G appeared, the stock rose 33% to $1.39 per share.
Fischbach began buying GoPro stock after staff at the NAB Show in Las Vegas would not show him the Mission 1 Pro ILS in April, ahead of the camera's Sept. 2 release. GoPro later invited him to its offices, lent him an ILS unit, and agreed to sponsor his YouTube channel.
His resulting 14-minute review calls the $699.99 interchangeable-lens cinema camera cinema-quality and argues it beats the $7,000 RED Komodo-X he used on his $50 million box-office film Iron Lung.
"The entry level into the cinema world cannot be $7,000, because people cannot afford $7,000," Fischbach said in the review.
Fischbach said he would use ILS footage in future films and that he did not buy GoPro stock to run GoPro.
